"Actually, I am also quite proud of the success of Plan-IT", says Norbert van Haren, director of Automobielbedrijf van Haren in Venray and Boxmeer.
"The pride stems from the fact that we, as Van Haren, were one of the founders of the product. In 1996 we asked JDS bedrijfsautomatisering bv whether it was possible to develop an application that would allow us to better manage the workshop.
The first version, developed in Dos, was functionally very basic but already supported the multi-branch idea: as an entrepreneur, I was given the opportunity to view the occupation of the workshop in the Boxmeer branch. We were therefore able to shift work between branches or labor where necessary, and that very specifically and directly.
"In consultation with JDS, and still from a customized situation, we started in 1999 to convert what was then Plan-IT into a Windows application. The experiences we already had with the Dos product, the functional wishes and new insights that we had gained in the meantime formed the basis for the development of a new Plan-IT product, Plan-IT Workshop."
Automotive company Van Haren has experienced enormous growth in recent years, in 2006 the new location on the Keizersveld industrial estate was moved into, the sale of new and used cars increased sharply, as did the number of mechanics as well as the number of passageways to be planned in the workshops.
Van Haren works to full satisfaction with Plan-IT Workshop, uses the SMS services of Care-Mail for the appointment confirmations as well as the ready notification from the workplace, and mailings are sent with this for regular MOTs.
Very recently, Van Haren has also activated the link between the dealer management system Darts and Plan-IT Workshop, which means that it has even better access to current data for controlling the business process."
Norbert van Haren indicates that he cannot imagine how colleagues in the automotive industry can continue to keep a grip on the occupation of one or more workplaces without a planning tool such as Plan-IT.
His choice remains for Plan-IT for the future, because, he adds:
"Workshop planning at van Haren? With Plan-IT Workshop we have been doing it for years!!!"Back to Plan-IT Stories
